in Wishes Are Horses

Written and directed by Peter Bloch-Hansen, winner of the 2011 Stella Award for playwriting, and author of Stir Fry, the 2005 Fringe hit, Wishes Are Horses opens July 6 in this summer’s Toronto Fringe Festival.

When a physics professor, once a famous “wunderkind”, announces that he has discovered science that can make wishes come true, he is fired by his university.  As his wife’s annoyance increases, their married life collapses into comedic chaos as they’re hounded by nuts, fanatics, criminals and finally find themselves under arrest as threats to national security.  What to do?

A comedy about relationships, bike messengers and underdog hockey franchises.

No one saw it coming.  After nearly half a decade of disappointment, the unthinkable has happened: for the first time in 46 years, The Leafs are finally playing in the Stanley Cup Finals.  It’s the day of the seventh game, and Gen— on shaky ground with her boyfriend, Dan—has tickets to take him to The Game in a desperate attempt to cling to his affections.  Or rather, she had tickets.  Just hours before the puck is set to drop, she has lost her tickets.

A new adaptation of a Dario Fo play by Matt Jones: July 6-16 at the Toronto Fringe

The next time the G20 comes to town, Rob Ford is ready, Stephen Harper is ready, Police Chief Bill Blair is ready. So when a bomb goes off downtown, scores of protesters are rounded up right away. Everything is going smoothly until an anarchist organizer falls to his death from a window during interrogation. Police reports say it’s an accident. And that it’s a suicide. A lone maniac tries to discover the truth. What was the Mayor doing at the police station that night?
