Stephen Harper’s Biggest Fan takes her love on the road…will Ruby Jones ever find what she’s looking for?
Find out this summer at the London, Toronto, and Calgary Fringe Festivals!
Miss Ruby Jones, aka HarperGirl, is the founder and self-appointed President of the Stephen Harper Fan Club. This summer, using crafts, video, dance and song, Ruby embarks on a hilarious quest for love in confusing political times across Canada with stops at the London, Toronto and Calgary Fringe Festivals.
Miss Ruby started scrapbooking at a young age but found her calling by using her craftiness to express undying love for Canada’s 22nd Prime Minister. In a bid to spread the love and defend her man, she scrapbooks, video blogs and is now a web celebrity.
“HoneyBear Harper is the most babelisc ious babe there is,” states Ruby, “All this economy talk – this man stuff – is so complicated! Thank goodness we have such a hottie to explain it to us!”
But times are getting tough. With the recession hitting close to home, HarperGirl wonders if her Prince in Tory Blue Armour will rescue her after all.
Miss Ruby Jones is the creation of Rusa Jeremic, who has an M.A. in political science from York University. Although she has spent the last 15 years working in the non-profit sector as a political lobbyist and a global human rights activist, comedy is her first love. HarperGirl merges Rusa’s love of politics, comedy, and satire with hilariously ridiculous results.
MK Piatkowski has directed a wide range of productions from medieval and Elizabethan drama to new Canadian plays. She most recently directed Kingship De Facto, a political drama, for the 2007 Summerworks Festival. As the Artistic Director of one big umbrella, MK has written extensively on arts funding for the company blog, which also features the popular interview series Umbrella Talks.
