SMART PEOPLE ARE FUNNY TOO
in Wishes Are Horses

Written and directed by Peter Bloch-Hansen, winner of the 2011 Stella Award for playwriting, and author of Stir Fry, the 2005 Fringe hit, Wishes Are Horses opens July 6 in this summer’s Toronto Fringe Festival.

When a physics professor, once a famous “wunderkind”, announces that he has discovered science that can make wishes come true, he is fired by his university.  As his wife’s annoyance increases, their married life collapses into comedic chaos as they’re hounded by nuts, fanatics, criminals and finally find themselves under arrest as threats to national security.  What to do?

Based on scientific facts released by the United States government before The Secret was published and the international craze it caused, Wishes Are Horses asks in comedic terms, what would our world be if everyone could have what they wanted; if no secrets could be kept, no treasures guarded, no vital interest protected?

These people are funny, not because they’re dumb, but because they’re smart — more or less.

Wishes Are Horses features  Stephen Flett, winner of many acting awards, including three as Best Leading Actor in a Comedy, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role; theatre veteran, Tina Sterling, and accomplished comedic actor, Leeman Kessler.
