The No Bull$#!% History of Canada – Toronto Fringe 2012 Press Release

From Press Release

The House of Style gives Canadian History its BALLS back.

Kyle Allatt believes not only is the truth stranger than fiction, but also that truth is funnier and more interesting. As a child he was required to make his family tree as a class project. He somewhat misunderstood the scope of said project and in the course of his research (which now reached back into the 15th Century) he discovered he was related to Charles Tupper, a former Prime Minister.

20 years later, Allatt decided to look his prestigious relative up and what he discovered was fascinating. Tupper was not only Canada’s shortest termed PM at only 69 days, but also by far, Canada’s WORST, or at the very least, funniest, Prime Minister.

The Contract – Toronto Fringe 2012 Press Release

From Press Release

SIGN YOUR NAME ON THE DOTTED LINE TO SEE “THE CONTRACT”

A man stumbles into a bar, and we are drawn into his quest to remember who he is and why he is there. When his wife and best friend appear, clues start to trickle like drops of paint on a canvas.   A mysterious video helps to flesh out a portrait of betrayal and regret, but also descends us deeper down the rabbit hole, into the very nature of life…and death.

“The Contract” merges video and live theatre into a seamless and captivating representation of a suicide victim in his afterlife struggling through painful recollections brought on by his post-life review.  This dramatic play/film hybrid reflects emerging modern beliefs about the afterlife and the ‘agreements’ that human souls make prior to incarnating.

CHRISTCHRISTCHRIST – Toronto Fringe Press Release

From Press Release

If Christ came back today, we would surely lock him up.

THEATRE STENDHAL ANNOUNCES WORLD PREMIERE OF ORIGINAL NEW WORK

‘CHRIST CHRIST CHRIST’

A SITE SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE- PART OF THE 2012 TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL

In the mid-20th century, a zealous psychiatrist, desperate for recognition in his field, brings together three patients from three separate psychiatric institutions who all seem to have something unusual in common; they all believe themselves to be Jesus Christ.

CHRISTCHRISTCHRIST brings an intimate audience into the day-room of this institution- filled with the minutiae of hospital life- to witness one of the daily meetings between these extraordinary gentlemen and their unethical Doctor. Underscored by live accompaniment, CHRISTCHRISTCHRIST will be a truly engaging and unique theatrical experience.

Theatre Stendhal was founded by Artistic Director, and Director of CHRISTCHRISTCHRIST; Alexis Eastman. Alexis began the company as a way to devise not only new works, but also new methods of creation.

The majority of the show was developed by essentially holding and improvising the meetings that occurred before the one the audience is invited to see. We truly created the world they lived in-all of the other meetings or incidents that these characters will refer to actually happened. We developed the shape of the show and important moments along the way, but ultimately, how we get there is up to the talented artists who comprise the cast of CHRISTCHTISTCHRIST and thus, no two shows could possibly be the same.

THEATRE STENDHAL believes authenticity in theatre is paramount. As emerging artists, rather than be crippled by inexperience, we are freed by our ignorance. We are inventing our own way to engage audiences and create authentic work and have no rules to stop us; this is clear in our unique, exciting and genuine work-

CHRISTCHRISTCHRIST.
