Megan loves being in the thick of all things theatre, but her ultimate goal is to promote theatre to the world of non-theatre people. It was the same when she was the theatre writer for blogTO, or the Fringe Correspondent for CBC Radio One‘s Here and Now, as it is as the founder of Mooney on Theatre. Her basic belief is that there is theatre/performance out there for everyone to love, they just need to find it. This is not to be confused with the idea that everyone should love theatre for theatre’s sake, in fact, as obsessed as she is with theatre, even *she* doesn’t love all types of theatre.

MAY 2016 – TORONTO, ON – Eleven years after winning Best of Fest in Toronto Fringe with “BoyGroove” (also 2006 Audience Choice Dora Award), RibbitRePublic is back! “A Good Death” is a spirited and candid examination of the most emotionally difficult, complex choice anyone must make for someone else: if, how, and when is it time to stop medical intervention and allow a loved one’s body to just let go?
The last year has seen dozens of refugee stories, both in Canada and elsewhere. This may be the only one with a singing blue jay at its heart. Downtown Jay, a family musical about leaving your home and learning to build a new one, premiers at the Toronto Fringe Kids Festival, June 29 – July 10 at the George Ignatieff Theatre.
Helder Brum (JFL 42) is a comedian, writer, and storyteller. Brum co-hosts/produces the monthly show Fireside Tales (BlogTO’s Top Ten Storytelling Events) and his podcast Helder Brum & Friends recently reached number one on iTunes “New and Noteworthy” chart. In Born With a Tale the performer strings together a series of comedic stories about Portuguese heritage, profuse sweating, and fighting a bull…twice.

As we left the Brigantine Room at Harbourfront Centre after seeing The Big Band Tap Revue, my guest for the evening exclaimed, “Well, that was just pure fun from beginning to end!” And she was bang on.
