I’ve been lucky enough to see some great shows at Fringe so far. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel that way about The Editor. There were some great parts to the show that could have been developed further to form a more cohesive storyline but sadly I felt like it fell flat. Peter ‘n Chris Save the World! (Presented by Chris Wilson and Peter Carlone) 2011 Fringe Review
This show has received rave reviews from everywhere that it has toured over the last two years and their Fringe opening night was no different. Bursting Into Flames (Martin Dockery) 2011 Fringe Review
The one man comedy show, Bursting Into Flames, starring Martin Dockery, is high energy all the way through. I overheard a couple on their way out say, “I’m exhausted just by watching him” and I smiled to myself in agreement.
If you like stand-ups, you’ll really enjoy this show. It’s about a dead man who is “living” in heaven and his life seems very much like it was when he was alive, except infinitely more fun. During the course of the show he talks about love, relationships and all the other good stuff that everyday life is made of. Continue reading Bursting Into Flames (Martin Dockery) 2011 Fringe Review

Awake (Expect / Spark Productions) 2011 Toronto Fringe Review
I am so glad I picked Awake as my first show of the Fringe Festival. The venue, Walmer Baptist Church, was perfect for this show that is a tribute to members of the Rexdale / Jamestown community that have died in gang violence related incidents.
The two directors, Laura Mullin and Chris Tolley, did an amazing job with this play. Not only are the stories true but all of the dialogue is unscripted and taken word-for-word from direct interviews of victims families, friends and cops. This is as real as it gets.
